Their emergency department treats more than 80,000 individuals every year and offers the full spectrum of medical care ― from allergy treatment to urology. They are Alameda County’s major provider of acute family care, and the facility also serves as the designated trauma center for northern Alameda County.
Today, Highland Hospital serves a number of roles within their community. These centers are staffed with some of the most experienced and recognized providers in the Bay Area and are known for their innovative technology, top-notch teaching programs, and cutting-edge research. Their “Centers of Excellence” include Maternity Services, Gastroenterology, Surgery, Orthopedics, Geriatrics, and Trauma, among others. Highland Hospital opened in 1927 and has continually expanded to better treat Alameda County residents ever since. It also conducts medical and clinical teaching in addition to providing primary, specialty, and multi-specialty care. The largest campus within the Alameda Health System, Highland Hospital has 236 inpatient beds and houses a regional trauma center.
